In Summer 2024, we launched our new Gender Equality strategy and action plan which consolidates and progresses the work we have done so far under our previous Gender Pay Gap and Athena Swan action plans.
We are committed to progressing equality, diversity and inclusion. We want our staff and students to feel supported and empowered to challenge the inequalities they may face or see and to help us achieve our ambitions for diversity and inclusion as set out in the University Vision.
As part of our Athena Swan silver renewal application, we created a self-assessment team which was representative of our staff and students. The team analysed staff and student data and qualitative feedback such as the staff survey. This allowed us to better understand our institution’s culture and priorities for gender equality. The action plan is based on this self-assessment.
Comprising five overarching priorities (External Engagement, Inclusive Data, Inclusive Recruitment, Culture and Environment and Progression, Promotion and Career Support) the action plan is a live document that is regularly reviewed by the Gender Equality Committee. Progress is monitored against agreed timeframes and is reported to the University Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Please note
You can explore the full action plan in more detail by clicking the blue "Columns" button on the left hand side of the plan. Here you can enable columns that are currently turned off.
We will continue to welcome constructive and critical engagement and challenge from our community in order to advance our strategy.
